Preparation For Your Test
How Shropshire Advanced Motorists will get you through your test.
Once you have signed up for a Skill For Life course, you will be given a date of the next available course. Don't worry if it's not suitable, we can give you an alternative if you request it. Then there will be two lecture evenings based at the Shirehall in Shrewsbury.
The purpose of this is to give you an overview of the advanced driving techniques and principles that you will experience over the next few weeks. Don't worry, we try to keep this as short as possible, the real learning starts behind the wheel.
On the second of these lecture evenings you will be assigned your new Observer. Your Observer will help you prepare for the test and he or she will be chosen to give you someone who is as close as possible to your location while best suiting the kind of driving that you want to experience on the course.
You will be given the contact details and asked to call your new Observer, they will be expecting your call!
It's then up to you and your new Observer to arrange times to go out on your observed runs at times best suited to you both.
You will then undertake some observed runs until it is decided that you are test ready. An application will be made to the national IAM to book your examiner and test date, and in the period before the test you will go out on an pre test drive with an alternative Observer to check that there is nothing that has been overlooked.
Finally it's test day, please click on the link on the left to see what the examiner wants.
