ADVANCED TRAINING FOR ROAD USERS AGED BETWEEN 17–30 YRS
If you are between the ages of 17 and 30 and have passed your driving test in a car or on motorcycle, you can get support with the cost of taking your advanced test and become one of the most skilled motorists on the road.
About the course
You will receive a fully illustrated training manual and logbook and the course will be delivered on a one-to-one basis by one of our IMI/DVSA accredited observers, at times arranged directly with you.
Taking advanced training will make you one of the safest and most skilled of road users, with many insurers offering post-test discounts in recognition of your achievement. A booking fee of £175 is paid to directly to IAM RoadSmart, SAMM will then refund young drivers or riders £50, match-funded by Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service following your test, leaving the total fee payable at just £75, irrespective of the result.

IAM RoadSmart’s course syllabus are based on the Police system of Motorcycle & Car control
Once test-ready, your observer will arrange a mock-test with a national observer and if all is well, will put you through to test with IAM RoadSmart, all of which is included in the fee.

Live, work or study in Shropshire
Have use of your own road-legal vehicle.
Hold a full driving or motorcycle license (not provisional)
Have valid car/motorcycle insurance, tax & MOT (if applicable)
How do I become a full member of IAM RoadSmart?
Having passed your test, you will be classed as an advanced driver or rider and become a full IAM RoadSmart Advanced member, enjoying the many benefits that membership of the UK's largest road safety charity brings. Select the car/bike joining link below to start your journey.
The examiner will measure your ability to perform the police System of car or motorcycle control, and evaluate your road observation and anticipation skills.
